Suzie Rosser – Candidate for 2009 MSHA President-Elect

Suzie Etheridge Rosser

Mrs. Rosser has been the audiologist for Hudspeth Regional Center since December of 1999. She is licensed by the Mississippi State Board of Health, and holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association in Audiology. Mrs. Rosser received a B.A. in speech pathology & elementary education from Northwestern State University, Natchitoches LA, in 1978, a M.Ed. in psychometry from Mississippi College, Clinton MS, in 1985, +30 certification in Supervision/Administration from Mississippi College in 1992, and a M.S. in Audiology from the University of Southern Mississippi, Hattiesburg MS in 1999. She is certified in Transdisciplinary Play Based Assessment, and as a Parent Trainer. Previous experience includes 20 years of public school service as elementary education teacher, speech pathologist, psychometrist, IEP coordinator, Child Find Coordinator, Behavior Interventionist, Case Manager, and Assistant Director of Special Education.

Mrs. Rosser has served as Standing Program Committee Chair for Continuing Education Conferences for Mississippi Speech Language Hearing Association (MSHA) since 2003, and currently is serving her fourth term as MSHA President. She is serving a second term on the Council of Advisors for the College of Public Service of Jackson State University. She has served on the Office of Special Education Stakeholder Committee on Regulation, Policies and Procedures, Mississippi Department of Education Subcommittee on licensure for Speech Language Pathology, and Early Hearing Detection and Intervention Legislative Committee for the First Steps Early Intervention Program of the Mississippi Department of Health. Mrs. Rosser is currently Vice President of Programs of the Jackson Area League of Women voters.

Mrs. Rosser is an avid fan of jazz and blues music. She has served on Executive Boards as the Events Coordinator for The Vicksburg Blues Society, and The Summers Hotel Foundation. During her tenure with the Summers Hotel Foundation she participated in the STARZ documentary “Last of the Mississippi Jukes” as a historical narrator.

Mrs. Rosser is owner of an event planning business, Specialty Planning. She has coordinated seminars, political fundraisers, and conferences for a variety of individuals and businesses.

Voting will take place September 1 – 30, 2008.
